Trimbach is a municipality in the district of Gösgen in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. Trimbach is first mentioned in 1244 as Trinbach. Trimbach has an area, as of 2009, of 7.62 square kilometers (2.94 sq mi). Of this area, 1.77 km2 (0.68 sq mi) or 23.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 3.99 km2 (1.54 sq mi) or 52.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.81 km2 (0.70 sq mi) or 23.8% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.08 km2 (20 acres) or 1.0% is either rivers or lakes. Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 2.1% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 11.9% and transportation infrastructure made up 7.7%. while parks, green belts and sports fields made up 1.3%. Out of the forested land, 50.9% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.4% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees.
